New Recipes Quinoa Pilaf - ★Cooking Recipes★

A South American grain, quinoa is widely considered a vegetarian super food due to its high protein content. It is also rich in calcium, phosphorous, iron, B vitamins and vitamin E. It can be used anywhere one would normally serve rice but has a distinct nutty flavour.
Directions for: Quinoa Pilaf

Ingredients

1 cup quinoa, soaked overnight and drained

1 Small cooking onion, diced

1 Bay leaf

1 Cardamom pod

1 Tbsp Organic butter

2 cup Filtered water

Unrefined sea salt

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

2. On the stove top, heat a medium sized, oven-safe saucepan on medium heat. Melt the butter in the saucepan and once it has begun to foam, add the diced onions.

3. Stir onions for a few minutes, allowing them to brown. Once they have browned add in the quinoa. Toast the quinoa (soaked) in the bottom of the pan for a few minutes, stirring frequently. Once you can smell a nice toasted aroma add the bay leaf, cardamom pot, water and unrefined sea salt. Cover and bring to a boil.

4. Once the water has boiled, transfer the pot to the oven. Let cook until all the water has been absorbed by the quinoa; usually 15 - 20 minutes.

5. Remove pan from oven. Discard bay leaf and cardamom pod before serving.Enjoy.
