New Recipes Festive Pastries with Gouda - ★Cooking Recipes★

A delicious holiday appetizer baked with Gouda cheese and cranberries.
Directions for: Festive Pastries with Gouda

Ingredients

cup (50 mL) unsalted butter, melted

2 tbsp + 1/4 cup (30 mL + 60 mL) maple syrup

3 Tbsp (45 mL) ground walnuts

4 sheet frozen phyllo dough, defrosted

lb(s) (150 g) Canadian Gouda, shredded

cup (175 mL) fresh or frozen cranberries (or raspberries), defrosted, halved

Maple sugar, to taste

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400F (200C).

2. In a small bowl, combine butter and 2 tbsp (30 mL) of maple syrup. Brush on 1 sheet of phyllo dough and sprinkle with walnuts. Place second sheet of phyllo on top, brush with butter mixture and sprinkle with walnuts and repeat for third sheet. Top with remaining sheet.

3. Cut stack crosswise and lengthwise into 4 squares.

4. In centre of each square, place a quarter of the cheese and the cranberries then the remaining maple syrup.

5. Brush with remaining butter mixture, sprinkle with maple sugar and bake in centre of oven for 10 minutes or until golden. Serve hot or warm.
