Strawberry Shortcakes in a Jar - ★Cooking Recipes★

Directions for: Strawberry Shortcakes in a Jar

Ingredients

6 cups (870 g) fresh strawberies, rinsed and sliced

cup (134 g) + 6 tablespoons (75 g) granulated sugar

4 cups (737 g) baking mix (like Bisquick)

1 cup (250 mL) whole milk

6 Tbsp (84 g) butter or margarine, melted

12-14 small glass canning jars

1 non-stick cookie sheet

cookie scoop

16-oz (575 mL) container Cool Whip or whipped cream, for garnish

red gingham fabric, cut in strips

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 425F (220C).

2. Place the strawberries in a large bowl and mix with cup of the sugar. Set aside.

3. In another large bowl, combine the baking mix, milk, melted butter, and remaining sugar until a soft dough forms. Using an ice cream scoop, scoop the batter onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

4. Bake for 9 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove the pan from the oven and place on a wire cooling rack until completely cool.

5. When ready to serve, place one shortcake biscuit in the bottom of each canning jar. Top with sliced strawberries, and garnish with Cool Whip or whipped cream.
