Directions for: The Romeo and Juliet Brownie
Ingredients
lb(s) bacon
cup butter, melted
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
tsp coarse kosher salt
cup unbleached white flour
2 cups chocolate frosting
Chocolate sauce
Caramel sauce
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 325F (160C).
2. Place bacon on tray and cook for 15-20 minutes. Drain off the extra bacon fat and keep to the side. Crumble the bacon onto a paper towel.
3. Measure out cup of the bacon drippings. Add the butter to the bacon drippings to make cup total. If you are short on bacon drippings, add more butter. In a large saucepan melt the butter mixture and the unsweetened chocolate together. Be careful not to burn it. Remove from heat and stir in sugar until well mixed. Then mix in the eggs, vanilla, and salt. Slowly fold in the flour until smooth. Add half of the crumbled bacon to the brownie mix, saving the rest for garnish.
4. Spray an 8-inch by 8-inch pan with cooking spray. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 20-30 minutes. Insert a toothpick to see if the brownies are done. They are ready when the toothpick comes out clean.
5. Fill a piping bag with chocolate frosting and frost the brownies. Garnish with the remaining crumbled bacon, chocolate sauce, and caramel sauce.
