Directions for: Plane, Train and Automobile Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
Sugar Cookiescup shortening
cup sugar
zest of a lemon
tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
4 tsp milk
2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
tsp salt

Sugar Cookies Icing Assembly1. Cream together the shortening and the sugar with a hand mixer in a medium bowl.
2. Add the lemon zest, vanilla, egg and milk and beat until combined.
3. In a small, separate bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well.
4. Gradually pour the flour mixture into the wet mixture and mix until a dough ball starts forming.
5. Finish shaping the dough on a floured surface. Divide it in half, wrap in saran and allow to chill for 1 hour in the fridge.
6. After an hour remove dough. Preheat the oven to 350F. Roll the dough out to about 1/8 thick and cut out whatever shapes you like. Repeat until you have used up all the dough.
7. Place the unbaked cookies on a tray lined with parchment and bake them for 7-8 minutes or until the edges turn lightly golden. Cool.
8. Make a simple icing by mixing 3-4 tablespoons of icing sugar with enough lemon juice to form a thick paste. Add food colouring. (You will need several batches of different colours.)
9. Decorate cookies and allow to dry thoroughly before stacking into a sealed container for storage.
